Spring Poetry

Poetry is a great way to practice memorization, learn literary concepts such as similes and metaphors, and to introduce good literature to children. Classic poems are filled with rhyme and rhythm, images and vocabulary to stretch your children’s imaginations.

Here’s a small printable package to study the classic spring poem “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer. Its first lines are often quoted,

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree

Included in this study is a copy of the poem itself, copywork, and a few exercises on rhymes and similes. There’s also an opportunity for your child to explore the images through illustration.

This printable pack is a perfect one day or one week study on spring poetry. It fits in nicely with Charlotte Mason philosophy, but it can also be used to supplement any nature study or literature study. Or just for fun!
