Single Mom Inspiration: What I’m listening too

You know the days right? Some days, you feel like you can’t do anything right. You just want to crawl back in bed, pull the covers over your head, and pretend you aren’t the adult in the house.  But there’s these little humans that somebody decided you were capable of taking care of, and they need to be fed. So what do you do? If you’re like me, you need a little inspiration.

My Inspiration Playlist

The following videos are songs that I listen to when I need a little support. Sometimes they help me cry, when I need to cry. Sometimes, I sing at the top of my voice, getting the anger and frustration out. And sometimes, I’m just nodding, resolving inside to keep going.

Zoegirl – Anything is Possible

Delirious? – Miracle Maker

Rachel Platten – Fight Song

MercyMe – EvenIf

For King and Country – Shoulders

Music provides inspiration

Music can do a lot of things for us. It can help get all that bottled up emotion out. Music gives us inspiration, encouragement, determination, celebration. When you’re down, turn up the tunes. When you’re frustrated, put on the hard and fast beats. And when you need motivation, find those songs that remind you of who you are, what you’ve got, and where you’re going.

These days, music is so easy to get. You may have a preferred genre. One of my best friends loves her country (gag me! lol!) But you may find your next anthem when you explore way outside your comfort zone. Inspiration could be lurking just around the corner in a music style you never liked.. except for that one song. Don’t be afraid to go old-school either. Sometimes you can find your inspiration in a song from the past. Dig out those cds from your childhood, and remind yourself of fun memories. The saying that music soothes the savage beast is true. So don’t be afraid to experiment.
